How to Apply International Student ?

The minimum acceptable English level is IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. Applicants must produce officially recognised evidence of study / testing to this level within the past 2 years.In certain circumstances students with lower than IELTS 5.5 may undertake Pre-sessional English to gain unconditional acceptance for September starts.

IELTS 4.5 or equivalent - Pre-sessional English of 24 weeks (or more) 
IELTS 5.0 or equivalent - Pre-sessional English of 16 weeks (or more)

Students entering Degree level courses with IELTS 5.5 only will be expected to study English further to ensure they can cope with the demands of the course.

American Univrsity is  biggest university in the USA. American University is a private doctoral institution situated in a residential neighborhood of northwest Washington, D.C. Our total fall 2010 enrollment was 13,047, with 6,657 degree-seeking undergraduates, 3,620 degree-seeking graduate students, 1,756 law students, and 1,014 students in nondegree certificate programs, Washington Semester, or AU Abroad.
We offer 57 bachelor’s degrees, 53 master’s degrees, 10 doctoral degrees, and a J.D. program, as well as more than 50 certificate programs, at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Courses run on a 15-week semester basis in fall and spring, with shorter summer-term classes. In addition, we offer 105 study-abroad programs and alternative breaks. More than 80 percent of our undergraduates and 60 percent of  our masters' students participate in at least one internship.
Our student body is cosmopolitan and globally diverse, with all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 146 countries represented. Seven percent of undergraduates and 10 percent of graduate students are international.
The university’s mission is carried out by 750 full-time faculty, and 1,400 full-time staff. Ninety-five percent of full-time faculty hold the highest degree in their field.
